Bailey 44 Dress

I'm normally a good student - I really am.  I try to focus in class and keep my g-chatting to a minimum.  (The guy I sit next to in Property spends the entire class staring at his computer screen playing something that looks vaguely like Farmville, not taking notes.  If the professor calls on him, he often has a good answer.  I don't get it.)  The big exception to this is during my Legal Research and Writing Class.  It begins at 8:30 on Tuesday mornings and runs for almost an hour and a half, so I'm just always out of it and really dazed during class.  To make it a short story...I do a lot of online browsing in that class...

Or occasionally, online buying.

I bought this sweet Bailey 44 dress from Revolve.  It was on sale...it was a dreary January day and I was dreaming of warmer weather.  It couldn't be avoided.

French Connection Dress

I wish I could make the title of this post more descriptive, but I really have no idea what the name of this dress is.

It's light and cotton-y, so it strikes me as a summer dress, but I actually think it might be from the winter collection.  Either way, I think it's going to get a lot of milage with me this summer.

2/14 Flowers

I might be a fierce litigator (or a scared 1L with a fear of public speaking), but I'm still a girl who loves flowers.

I hope everyone else had an equally wonderful Valentine's Day.

Cynthia Vincent Juno Wedges

I had my eye on the latest incarnation of these when I first saw them on shopbop.  The newest pairs are in light pink and a multicolor pattern, which, while cute, don't really work for me.  The multicolor was a bit loud for me and the thought of light pink suede makes me nervous about stains.  Plus, I have a real aversion to paying $100+ for sandals, and these were going for $195.

I was poking around and found THESE on Jildor for less than half that.  The black suede is much more practical for me and the price was much friendlier.  They also look super cute on...and they're pretty comfortable as well.  Definitely something I could wear all night without having to hobble home.  I imagine myself wearing them with cute summer dresses or cuffed skinny jeans.

I really love that sweet zipper detail on the back.  I can't wait for summer!

Valentine's Cupcakes!

Because who doesn't like funfetti?

I was feeling inspired (and also in the mood to put off the mountain of reading I had...), so I decided to make my cake from scratch using this recipe.  The perfectionist in me actually thought about buying the red/white/blue sprinkles and picking out the blue ones so I'd have perfect red/white funfetti cupcakes, but the pragmatist in me simply couldn't do it.

I frosted them with plain buttercream and then used decorator's icing to write on them.  As the girl with ATROCIOUS handwriting, I was proud that this was legible, let alone kind of pretty!

Did you bake anything fun for Valentine's Day?

J. Crew New Arrivals

I always love when J. Crew introduces stuff for the new season.  Since I'll be working one of my first professional jobs this summer, I'm looking forward to getting a few more grown-up pieces.  Here are a few things I have my eyes on...

I love this.  I could definitely see myself wearing this to work in one of the more neutral shades with a pencil skirt.  It would even be cute to dress up a pair of shorts.

I'm on the lookout for more nice oxford shirts.  I bought one of the Thomas Mason shirts last year and they're so nice.  The fabric is incredible.  I wish they weren't quite so expensive...

There are few items of clothing that I love more than a striped, long sleeve dress.  Super cute.

I love how sweet and feminine this dress is...absolutely something I would wear.

I'm a little self-concious of my legs, so I don't like shorts that are super tight or short.  These are perfect.

I want this in every color.  This is the kind of thing I want to wear to work every day.

I love the feminine scalloping detail at the waist.  Super cute.

What things are you admiring at J. Crew?  Are you already looking forward to summer clothes?

Super Bowl Brownies

I made these for a Super Bowl party I went to last weekend.

I used my favorite brownie recipe, which is from Hershey's.

  • cup butter or cup margarine

  • cups sugar

  • teaspoons vanilla

  • eggs

  • ¾ cup cocoa

  • cup all-purpose flour

  • ½ teaspoon baking powder

  • ¼ teaspoon salt

  • Grease 13x9x2 inch baking pan.  Heat oven to 350 degrees. Melt butter in microwave. Stir in sugar and vanilla. Beat in eggs, one at a time. Add cocoa, flour, baking powder and salt; beat until well blended.  Pour batter into pan.

  • Bake 30 minutes or until brownies begin to pull away from sides.

If you want to frost them like normal, you can go ahead and do that.  I made frosting (1 cup powdered sugar, 3 tablespoons cocoa powder, 1 tablespoon melted butter, 1.5 tsp water), but spread it on while they were still a little warm and then put the pan in the fridge, so it came out a bit more like a smooth glaze.  Then I decorated with white decorator's frosting!

    MMM....
